When a company finds itself in a tense economic situation, the first thing at the expense of which managers try to save is personnel management and related processes, like training, motivation and inner communication. An example is personnel selection, which companies try to carry out on their own. And it is not a rear case that such approach does not bring as good results as one could wish; such a solution takes away the time of managers, who instead would have to be busy with carrying out their own direct duties, and poses an additional risk for their businesses as managers lack knowledge and skills to be able to carefully evaluate the competences of candidates.

Painless outplacement
I have noticed that many managers avoid talking and explaining the situation to their employees when dismissing them. As a result, the dismissed employees do not fully understand the reasons of their dismissal and thus find the situation unfair; they feel frustrated widely sharing their feelings with friends and acquaintances as well as complete strangers on the Internet. Both former and current employers are actively writing blogs and making Twitter records with regard to recent events in their organisations. This way the company spoils its reputation and loses an opportunity to recruit the best market specialists once it becomes necessary again. Employees remaining in the company experience even a bigger lack of communication. They start to fear and feel insecure about their future, which brings down their level of motivation and productivity and makes them lose their trust in the company future. If the management does not explain the current situation and vision of the future plans, the ecosystem of the company is distracted. Any changes, savings and budget cuts should be repeatedly explained thoroughly and in detail. It is a basis which gives people understanding about the meaning of their work and company activity.

Hove to save money
A significant saving of resources can be achieved by reviewing organisation procedures and their effectiveness. The current aim of organisations should be innovation of not only products but also procedures, which would make them more effective, for instance by reducing red tape, enhancing accounting systems, digitalising document flow, and reducing the number of necessary activities and thus also the time for carrying out tasks. It would be both customers and the company that would gain advantage from this.
